With and Without Oil

Thai Massage With and Without Oil

Traditional Thai massage normally means no oil is used, instead, it relies on a combination of stretching, compression, and rhythmic pressure along your bodies energy lines and specific points on the body to release tension, improve flexibility, and promote overall well-being.

However, more often than not we tend to use oil due to customer preference and the additional relaxation benefits it provides.

For most of our popular massage options oil is used, including deep tissue massage and full body Thai massage.

Thai Massage With Oil Edinburgh

Thai massage is normally performed with the use of oil, although it differs somewhat from traditional Thai massage without oil. When oil is incorporated, the massage typically involves more gliding and smoother movements compared to the dynamic stretching and compression techniques used in traditional Thai massage.

During a Thai massage with oil, the recipient may still be partially clothed, depending on personal preference and the therapist's approach. The use of oil allows the therapist's hands to glide more easily over the recipient's skin, facilitating a smoother and more fluid massage experience.

The application of oil can enhance the overall relaxation and soothing effects of the massage, as it helps to moisturiwe the skin and reduce friction during the massage strokes. Additionally, the therapist may incorporate techniques such as kneading, long strokes, and circular motions to further promote relaxation and release tension in the muscles.

Thai massage with oil can be particularly beneficial for individuals seeking a more gentle and luxurious massage experience, as well as those looking to nourish and hydrate their skin. However, it's essential to communicate with your massage therapist about any preferences, allergies, or sensitivities you may have to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.

Thai Massage with Tiger Balm

Thai massage with tiger balm involves incorporating the use of tiger balm, a popular topical analgesic, during the massage session. Tiger balm contains ingredients like camphor, menthol, and various herbal extracts, which are known for their cooling and analgesic properties.

During the massage, the therapist may apply a small amount of tiger balm to specific areas of the body that are tense, sore, or in need of pain relief. The balm is typically massaged into the skin using a combination of gentle strokes and pressure, allowing the active ingredients to penetrate deeply into the muscles and joints.

Thai Massage without oil Edinburgh

Traditional Thai massage without oil, also known as Thai yoga massage or Thai bodywork, is a therapeutic practice that combines acupressure, assisted yoga poses, and rhythmic stretching techniques.

Here's some things you can expect during sessions with no oil:

  1. Fully Clothed Option: Recipients typically wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement. This ensures that the practitioner can perform the stretches and manipulations effectively.

  2. Floor Mat Option: Traditional Thai massage is often performed on a padded floor mat, although it can also be done on a massage table if preferred.

  3. No Oil: Unlike some other forms of massage, traditional Thai massage does not typically involve the use of oils or lotions. Instead, the practitioner uses their hands, thumbs, elbows, knees, and feet to apply pressure and manipulate the recipient's body.

  4. Assisted Stretching: One of the key elements of Thai massage is assisted stretching. The practitioner gently guides the recipient through a series of yoga like stretches and movements, helping to improve flexibility, release tension, and promote relaxation.

  5. Acupressure Points: The practitioner may also apply pressure to specific points along the body's energy lines, known as Sen lines, to help balance the body's energy and promote healing.

  6. Breathing Techniques: Deep breathing is often incorporated into Thai massage without oil to enhance relaxation and increase the effectiveness of the stretches and manipulations.

  7. Customised Treatment: The practitioner may tailor the massage session to address the recipient's specific needs and concerns, focusing on areas of tension or discomfort and not using oil for specific reasons and benefits.

Overall, traditional Thai massage without oil is a deeply therapeutic and rejuvenating experience that can help improve both physical and mental well-being. It's particularly beneficial for increasing flexibility, relieving muscle tension, and promoting overall relaxation.
